About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Web Engineer to join our web team in Bucharest. You will own web products end to end: the front end, the Node/TypeScript layer that sits behind it, and the data it works with. Some of what you build is customer-facing, some of it is internal tooling for our own teams. Both matter to us, and both ship to real users.

Our web stack is TypeScript first. We run Angular and Next.js (React) applications, rendered on the server or in the browser depending on what the page needs. PostgreSQL is our main database. The backend services you will talk to are mostly written in Kotlin, and our infrastructure lives on AWS, managed with Terraform. You will not own those layers, but you will work closely with the people who do, and it helps a lot if you can read your way around them.

We are also starting to add AI features to our products. This is new territory for us, so you would be shaping how we do it rather than inheriting a finished setup. Experience shipping LLM-backed features is welcome but not required. What we do expect is that you already use agentic tools like Claude Code or Codex in your daily coding work. Curiosity and good judgment cover the rest.

You do not need to be an expert in both Angular and Next.js on day one. Strong in one and comfortable picking up the other is what we are after.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build and ship web applications in Angular and Next.js: routing, data fetching, rendering strategy (server, client or a mix), caching
  • Build and maintain the Node/TypeScript layer between the browser and our Kotlin services: API routes, authentication, validation, database access and integrations with internal and third-party APIs
  • Own performance and SEO: Core Web Vitals, caching strategy, bundle size, choosing the right rendering approach per page
  • Own security: OWASP Top 10, secure session handling, CSP, input validation, secrets management, safe handling of untrusted content
  • Help us bring AI features into our products as we start that journey: prompt design, structured outputs, streaming to the browser, keeping an eye on quality and cost
  • Work day to day with User Acquisition, Design and Business Intelligence to ship features and measure how they land
  • Run A/B tests across UX/UI variations and improve conversion-funnel KPIs
  • Write automated tests that actually catch things (unit, integration, end to end) and keep CI green
  • Review code, mentor colleagues and help raise the bar on how we build
  • Keep an eye on the industry and competitors, and turn what you learn into product proposals

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of professional web development, including production ownership of at least one web application people rely on
  • Strong TypeScript and modern JavaScript, including a real understanding of the runtime: event loop, closures, modules, memory
  • Hands-on experience with Angular (v17+: standalone components, signals, RxJS) and Next.js (App Router, Server Components, Server Actions, Route Handlers). Expert in one, productive in the other
  • Solid grasp of rendering strategies: CSR, SSR, SSG, ISR and streaming, hydration and where it breaks, caching of rendered output. Deep SSR experience is a strong point, not a hard requirement
  • Node.js experience: REST API design, auth (sessions / JWT / OAuth), validation, error handling, observability
  • PostgreSQL: schema design, migrations, indexes, transactions, query performance
  • Third-party API integration done properly: timeouts, retries, rate limits, idempotency, caching
  • Web security fundamentals: XSS, CSRF, CSP, CORS, secure cookies, SQL / NoSQL injection, dependency hygiene, secrets handling
  • Testing: Vitest or Jest for unit and integration tests, Playwright and Testing Library for the rest
  • Experience with analytics, A/B testing and letting data settle arguments
  • Daily use of agentic development workflows: working with agents and subagents in Claude Code or OpenAI Codex, writing skills and custom instructions, and using them for real delivery work
  • Experience building and maintaining shared component libraries and design tokens
  • Clear written and spoken English. You write PRs, READMEs, and design notes people actually want to read

Nice to Have

  • NoSQL databases such as MongoDB. We do not use one yet, but it may come up
  • Experience building LLM-powered features: calling model APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini or open models), structured outputs/function calling, streaming, prompt-injection awareness
  • Comfort reading or contributing to Kotlin services
  • Cloud and delivery: AWS, Terraform, Docker, CI/CD (GitHub Actions), CDN and edge caching
  • Exposure to mobile (iOS / Android / Flutter) or browser-extension development
